Join us in celebrating the Year of the Dragon with a special Lunar New Year event. This is a time when, traditionally, people come together to celebrate the coming of spring and reunite with their family and community.
You'll have the opportunity to learn how to make and fold dumplings with Lani and Nathan from Big Spoon Sauce Co. Meanwhile, Coral Wang of Maison des Plaisances will welcome us with a cocktail and pour a tasting of three local wines from her collection and from Yamachan to complement the flavorful and communal experience. Lani and Nathan will start the event with a brief history of Chinese dumplings. Coral will also give us an overview of her wines, the rich history of Sonoma’s wine industry, and the Chinese migrants who built it.
You'll roll out dumpling skins and stuff them with fresh, locally sourced ingredients while sipping natural wines. By night's end, you'll become a pro at making dumplings! We'll conclude with a fire gathering, where we'll enjoy the dumplings prepared several ways: in a nourishing hot broth, deep-fried with sweet chili sauce, or simply boiled with a spread of Big Spoon sauces to choose from, all while we watch the full moon rise.
You'll also receive a dumpling recipe guide after the experience, and you'll have the opportunity to purchase the wines and Big Spoon sauces so you can continue the culinary journey at home!
