After over a decade of working with my favorite wood, Paradox Walnut, I sought the knowledge of how to identify, harvest, and grow the hybrid tree from the definitive experts at the Alex M. Suchan nursery. In preparation for the orchard, I have hand-tended the soil, added organic amendments, collected over 20,000 gallons of rainwater annually, and harvested over 400 potential Paradox Walnut seeds for planting.

With any luck, my son will be able to harvest a tree, but more likely, they will continue to thrive past his life too. These trees will form a museum of living sculptures, shaped by sunlight and wind until their ultimate transformation by the hands of an unknown craftsman.

Your contributions will help with:

  • Labor costs to tend the soil, prune the trees, run irrigation lines, and remove invasive plants

  • Organic compost and amendments

  • High-efficiency drip irrigation

  • Rainwater harvesting storage tanks

  • Fencing and gopher baskets to protect the young trees from wildlife
