Hey! It’s your favorite ranch hands here, Taylor and Chelsea Donsker. Welcome to our “About” page!

We are a family of city dwellers who fulfilled a long-time dream of living in Northern California amongst nature by uprooting from Los Angeles in October of 2021. We call this land Paradox Ranch, inspired by the 20th-century master horticulturalist and agricultural pioneer Luther Burbank, a long-time Sonoma County resident who produced the first Paradox walnut tree - a strong and beautiful wood that Taylor favors in his sculptural furniture work.

Paradox Ranch is a multi-use property that embodies our dreams. Initially, it was a 5-acre lot of mostly undeveloped land, but we have since planted a 22-tree fruit orchard, a garden with nine 16’x4’ beds full of vegetables, berries, flowers and medicinals, a 3,000 sqft private artist studio, a cozy communal space surrounded by a Piet Oudolf-inspired California Native garden, with many more plans in the making, including a 60 Paradox walnut tree orchard coming soon! We take pride in being stewards of this land by capturing rainwater and fog harvesting for irrigation, and we strive to honor all things natural in our daily routines.

We believe the land we live on should be shared, so Paradox Ranch also serves as a retreat space for small, private gatherings each season. Chelsea curates and produces these intimate events focusing on community building, wellness, and land preservation.

The journey is always unfolding; we are happy to have you along for the ride!
